Homeless explores the anonymous, the homeless or the solitary. Emphasising the viewer’s position, gaze and relationship with the subject, Sandy Curry’s work encourages empathy and questions social conscience. The decorative, repetitive pattern creates a narrative across the work as an analogy for the repetitiveness of homeless life, emphasising the contradictions within society. After graduating from UCCA Farnham, Sandy won the Windsor and Newton Painting Prize and the Fenton Arts Trust Artist in Residence at the Watts Gallery (2006-7). She has exhibited widely.
