The ‘Animation and Public Engagement’ Symposium November 18th 2014, Bradford

This symposium will be of interest to researchers who create animation, enjoy theoretical discourse about animation or wish to use animation to disseminate research ideas. We have an excellent range of speakers, including independent filmmakers and academics from all over Britain.
The study of animation as an academic discipline has flourished in recent years, with both practical and theoretical exploration of its histories, contexts and creative possibilities developing through undergraduate and post-graduate levels of education. At the same time, we know that animation is part of the modern media world – consumed by all in a fast flow of moving image information and entertainment. How, then, are researchers developing platforms for public engagement that allow the depth and richness of Animation Studies to unfold?
