Threads are pleased to present our next Micro-Residency at River Garage Studios 12th September

Four artists will be occupying River Garage Studios for a 1 day Micro Residency to create, explore and develop their practice. You are invited to come throughout the day (10:00 – 17:00) to see how the work is progressing and talk to the artist about their work.

To finish the residency we will hold an open critique (18:00 – 19:30). Threads invite artists/creatives to come with works, work in progress or ideas to discuss in a peer-to-peer format. The residency artists will be asked to discuss the work they have been exploring during the day with the group. Other crit attendees will also have an opportunity to discuss the work they have brought. Attendees are not required to bring their own work along to the critique and will contribute to the conversation.

It is the choice of the artist presenting their work to either lead with a brief introduction to the work presented/their overall practice, this may include highlighting a specific area of the overall practise where development is needed or further exploration is required. Alternatively, the discussion can be lead from the attendees, with no initial introduction from the Artist. If you have a preferred format as we approach the critique please let us know and we will facilitate this.

About THREADS and the MICRO-RESIDENCY PROJECT

Nomadic artist-led gallery, Threads, have teamed up with six partners across East Kent to increase recognition of artist-led activity in the region.

Having delivered over thirty visual art critiques across Kent, Threads have identified and want to address the untapped opportunity for development that exists in peer-to-peer critiques and residencies. To do so, Threads have curated a nine-month programme, bringing together cultural ambassadors to strengthen the connections for arts organisations across the region, highlighting East Kent a must-visit destination for contemporary art.
