Verv London is proud to announce the inaugural exhibition at VERV LAB – “When I first met you I was younger” by Jake Grewal for his debut solo show. Jake graduated from University of Brighton with a first class Honours in Fine Art: Painting in 2016. Jake’s work brings together the language of Romanticism and his South Asian heritage to express autobiographical experiences. Themes of identity, love, loss, violence and adolescence are explored through a queer gaze, creating a dream-like reality based in nature. The show is curated by William Lee

VERV LAB is located on the first floor of our new East London store and was conceptualised by our visionary architect Christoph Kumpusch as a gallery and exhibition space, photo-studio and community forum – its architecture being able to take on fluid programming in a matter of minutes. VERV LAB will host a curated series of exhibitions, popups and events in collaboration with artists, designers and other creatives with a particular focus on lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ) themes with works that explore and question assumptions about gender and sexuality.
