‘Which is your brass voice?’ by Aether and Hemera is an interactive installation employing new technology and new media to create an engaging multi-sensory experience for festival audiences. The installation invites people to discover their brass voice by speaking, singing, shouting or whispering into microphones; the Artificial Intelligence behind the artwork analyses the individual nuances of volume, pitch and the intonation of people’s voices and creates a new music composition in real time. The sequence of notes gathered from the microphones is compared to the vast musical knowledge gathered from hundreds of brass scores to generate the note to be played next. These brass sounds outputted through surrounding speakers are at the same time synchronised to localized coloured LED lights and light projections within the space to create a fully immersive experience for visitors.
