Degree shows 2019: opening this week

“Don’t follow trends, they’ll be over before the show opens.”

That’s the advice from independent curator Lucy Day to students preparing for their degree shows.

Day is one of five visual art professionals quoted in our What makes a great degree show feature in the a-n Degree Shows Guide 2019.

She adds: “Treat your degree show like the professional opportunity that it is, albeit with a safety net. Be present, be engaged and be prepared to talk about your work.”

Evie Morris, whose work is pictured above, is among the 10 emerging artists offering a final-year student’s point of view in the guide.

Speaking in our Class of 2019 feature, the University of Gloucestershire graduate says: “I’m looking forward to seeing my works in the space and to working with my peers to curate a show that exhibits our work to its full potential.”

This week’s degree shows with plenty of potential are:
