Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard’s 20,000 Days on Earth has been nominated in the Best Documentary category at this year’s BAFTA Awards.

The film, which mixes drama with documentary to follow a fictitious 24 hours in the life of musician and international cultural icon Nick Cave, has already picked up several accolades since premiering at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in January last year, where it won awards for directing and editing in the World Cinema Documentary category.

In December the duo won the award for Best Debut Director at The 17th Annual British Independent Film Awards, and they have also received awards at film festivals in Istanbul, Athens and Quebec. The film was released in cinemas in September 2014.

Forsyth and Pollard met while studying on the Fine Art and Art Theory course at Goldsmiths College, London, in the mid-nineties and have worked together ever since. Predominantly known for producing multi-media works that re-enact or reimagine cultural events, 20,000 Days on Earth is their debut feature film.

British Academy Film and Television Awards take place on Sunday 8 February at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. www.bafta.org
