In a statement following a Board meeting last week, Creative Scotland has announced details of the process of appointing its new Chief Executive, along with a series of open sessions to take place in March and April. The meetings will be ‘to discuss the process of change’ at the organisation. Details of dates and locations for these events are to be announced in the week commencing 18 February.

The CEO’s job at Scotland’s arts funding body, which became vacant when Andrew Dixon announced his resignation in December, is due to be advertised later this month, with interviews expected to take place in April. In another move which suggests Creative Scotland is taking seriously its commitment to being more transparent – following a sustained barrage of criticism from many in Scotland’s arts community – it has also announced who will be on the interview panel for the new Chief Executive’s job.

The panel will feature: Vicky Featherstone, former artistic director of the National Theatre of Scotland and now artistic director of the Royal Court, London; Fiona Dalgetty, musician and chief executive of Fèis Rois; Chris van der Kuyl, chief executive of digital company Brightsolid; and author Janice Galloway.

The panel will be led by Sir Sandy Crombie, chairman of the Creative Scotland Board, and will also include board members Peter Cabrelli, Steve Grimmond and Ruth Wishart (a non-remunerated Trustee of the National Galleries of Scotland). A representative of the Scottish Government will also be present.

Creative Scotland also announced that, in the week commencing 4 March, it will publish a detailed action plan for the process of change at the organisation over the next 6-12 months.
