From a submission of almost 3,000 entries, the selection panel that included Stephen Coppel (Curator of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum), Kate Macfarlane (Co-Director of The Drawing Room) and artist Lisa Milroy, has chosen seventy-eight works by seventy-three artists.

The shortlist includes established artists such as Judith Alder, Susie Hamilton, Jennifer Steele and Rebecca Swindell, as well as recent graduates like Katie Aggett.

The Jerwood Drawing Prize is the largest and longest running annual open exhibition for drawing in the UK. This year the total prize fund has increased to £17,000, a rise of over 50%, to include a first prize £8,000, second prize £5,000, and two student awards of £2,000 each.

The selected works will be on show at JVA at Jerwood Space, London 12 September – 28 October 2012, and then tour to venues across the UK including the new Jerwood Gallery, Hastings and mac, Birmingham. Prize winners will be announced at a ceremony on 11 September 2012.
