Transformed: By flood, bomb and shovel
Occupying the window space of a former hardware store and curated by artist-gardener-writer Danny Coope, this exhibition converges with Coope’s ongoing interest in heritage and the borough to present a series of archival photographs (pictured above) from Vestry House Museum, depicting Walthamstow through the last century in states of change and destruction.
Until 28 February 2016, Walthamstow Village Window Gallery, London E17.

Sects, cults, gangs, movements, the arts, fashion brands and labels are the impetus for Mark Scott-Wood‘s artworks that consider the systems that we choose to belong to. Drawing on the promotional distractions around him – be they from contemporary brands or belief-based groupings – the artist uses society’s detritus to create talismanic and totemic objects that combine an aura of absurdity, humour, sympathy and mysticism.
Until 5 March 2016, The Minories, 74 High Street, Colchester.

Overcoming barriers to artists’ residencies
This seminar presents a range of strategies and voices from artists who have found ways to overcome barriers to undertaking traditional artists residencies – whether from the sick bed or with family in tow. Inspired by her own family-inclusive two-week residency experience in 2014, event convener Nicola Smith is in the process of setting up a new residency that will be open to artists who might otherwise feel unable to participate.
Friday 26 February 2016, 10am, Old Fire Station, University of Salford, Salford.

europarc project
Since moving to Lincolnshire in 2003, artist Marc Renshaw has been revisiting and exploring the europarc, North East Lincolnshire’s flagship business park – even undertaking a stint of temporary employment at this remote and melancholic (non) place. Now his chosen workplace as an artist, Renshaw’s ongoing drawings, mindmaps, films, performances and writing explore the site and its businesses conjuring up fictional, remembered and observed narratives.
27 February – 27 March 2016, The Collection, Danes Terrace, Lincoln.
