INSIDE OUT AND UPSIDE DOWN “The anatomy of a cardboard box”
Taking as a starting point a discarded piece of packaging, Diana Hand has created a body of drawings that explore “the anatomy of a cardboard box” re-conceiving its forms in terms of positive and negative space, suggestive of a series of architects’ studies.
Until 29 April 2016, Dunblane Museum Gallery, The Cross, Dunblane, Scotland

Rara Avis
Christie Brown’s unsettling animal-human hybrids remind us that we cannot really know the other. With a nod to theorists such as Derrida, Cixous and Segarra, Brown’s statues and portrait busts consider the unreadable gaze from an animal, as well as human perspective.
Until 30 April 2016, ARTHOUSE1, 45 Grange Road, London SE1

Droppers
Inspired by Drop City, the 1965 rural commune and creative community set up by art graduates in Texas, Andy Webster and Darren Ray initiate a series of happenings and events centred around a geodesic structure that they are constructing inside the OSR Project Space. Their programme of events will consider how the Droppers’ search for the ‘true life’ might hold resonance today.
16 April – 8 May 2016, OSR Project Space, Church Street, West Coker, Somerset

Silent Spaces
Inspired by the Chiltern Hills, Nicholas Herbert captures the solitude and exposure of this landscape in his intense mixed media, graphite, crayon and acrylic works on paper. Herbert’s dense and textured mark-making captures a sense of the topography and transient qualities of this rolling landscape.
16 April – 10 May 2016, Alan Kluckow Fine Art, 65 Chobham Road, Sunningdale, Berkshire
