a-n’s Granted strand, a professional development programme of seminars and workshops, continues this summer with events in Stoke-on-Trent and Nottinghamshire. Hosted in collaboration with regional partners Appetite and Creative Greenhouse, Granted events are about giving artists and visual arts freelancers the confidence and know-how to move their practice and projects forward.

The season kicks off with Dodge the Shredder events at Bonington Theatre, Arnold, on 5 June and AirSpace Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent, on 6 June. These full-day workshops, developed and delivered by artist Emilia Telese, offer tailor-made feedback for funding proposals in progress and are aimed at empowering artists to fundraise effectively whilst creating a financial strategy for their practice. Costs: Arnold event: £15 for a-n Artist+AIR or a-n Arts organisers members or members of Creative Greenhouse, £30 for non-members; Stoke-on-Trent event: £10 (subsidised by Appetite and a-n).

On 19 June, artist and WeDidThis founder Hen Norton will lead a workshop session in Stoke-on-Trent looking at the processes involved in fundraising via online platforms and social media. Developing audiences and raising money via crowdfunding will offer practical advice on marketing creative work, building relationships and networks, and developing audiences. Cost: £10 (subsidised by Appetite and a-n).

The final session of the season takes place at The Hive, Nottingham Trent University, on 26 June. Led by producer and researcher Chris Fremantle, the Collaborate Creatively seminar includes informal and facilitated discussion exploring the behaviours and characteristics of collaboration, along with a hands-on workshop highlighting contexts for innovation and guidance on good practice. Cost: £10 for Artist+AIR or a-n Arts organisers members or members of Creative Greenhouse, £20 for non-members.
