2013 Carnegie International, Pittsburgh, USA
Co-curated by Daniel Baumann, Dan Byers, and Tina Kukielski, the 2013 Carnegie International is presented in four parts: an exhibition of new international art at the Carnegie Museum of Art, a playground project, the museum’s collection, and public engagement projects with the city of Pittsburgh. Among the 35 artists in the major survey show are Sarah Lucas, Yael Bartana, Mark Leckey and Lara Faveretto, while the Playground Project features new work by Tezuka Architects and a film by artists Ei Arakawa and Henning Bohl.

ALL’APERTO, Trivero, Italy
The fifth edition of ALL’APERTO (OUTDOORS) is curated by Andrea Zegna and Barbara Casavecchia and opens with a live happening by Italian artist Marcello Maloberti, currently participating in the Italian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale. Maloberti also presents his first permanent public work in the form of a small ‘garden of delights’. Organised by Fondazione Zegna and supported by the Municipality of Trivero, the Province of Biella and the Region of Piedmont, other permanent works in the ALL’APERTO series are by Daniel Buren (2008), Alberto Garutti (2009), Stefano Arienti (2011), Roman Signer (2012)

Emerge Art Fair, Washington DC, USA
The (e)merge art fair returns for its third year with an international roster of 80 exhibitors presenting works by 150 artists from 30 countries. Concentrating on emerging artists, the fair’s wide range of international exhibitors includes Newcastle’s Vane gallery, which, among other artists, will be showing the work of a-n’s Stephen Palmer. The fair takes place across three levels of the Capitol Skyline Hotel and also throughout the hotel’s grounds and public spaces.

VIENNAFAIR: The New Contemporary 2013, Vienna, Austria
Showcasing art from North, Central and South Eastern Europe, this fair aims to offer a platform for art, artists and art institutions from regions that are often under-represented at global art fairs. This year, it includes a special focus on the emerging art scene in the Caspian region and also includes galleries from Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Poland and of course Austria. In addition to the fair itself, artistic directors Christina Steinbrecher-Pfandt and Vita Zaman have also programmed a series of experimental side projects.

Haein Art Project 2013, South Korea
Instigated in 2011 as part of the Tripitaka Koreana Festival, Haein Art Project combines contemporary art and the philosophy and culture of Buddhism. Taking place in the grounds of the Haeinsa Temple, Seongbo Museum and also in the Sorigil national park, it features predominantly South Korean artists while also including contributions from India, Hong Kong, USA, Italy and Spain. While the first project was to celebrate and remember the thousand years of history of the Tripitaka Koreana Festival, this second edition looks to the future and the coming thousand years.
