In an ongoing dispute over the privatisation of jobs, National Gallery staff are to stage a second five-day strike which will run from Sunday 22 February.

Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) intend to walk out in protest of the London gallery’s plans to hand over 400 of its 600 staff to private company, CIS.

The PCS also claims that The National Gallery is the only ‘major museum’ in London that does not pay the London Living Wage of £9.15.

The latest strike follows previous industrial action on 2-6 February and a public meeting in parliament on 10 February to discuss the campaign.

A petition containing more than 40,000 signatures calling for the privatisation to be reversed has been handed to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
