Old Master Dialogues, Collyer Bristow Gallery, London
Day and Gluckman present this superb new exhibition that juxtaposes the work of Old Masters with that of contemporary practitioners. Artists including Aly Helyer, Chloë Steele, Richard Stone, Mark Wright, Gordon Cheung, Ann Marie James and Fiona Macdonald have responded to the 50 year-old prints and drawings in the collection of Richard Day. Idris Khan: Beyond the Black / Yayoi Kusama: White Infinity Nets, Victoria Miro, London
Art is never black or white, and two exhibitions currently showing at Victoria Miro take this literally. First up at Miro’s Wharf Road gallery, Idris Khan’s Beyond the Black showcases a suite of large black paintings plus a large site-specific wall drawing. Over at their Mayfair site, Yayoi Kusama’s incredible White Infinity Nets paintings are displayed in all their ephemeral beauty.

Eileen Gray: Architect Designer Painter, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin
Marking the reopening of the main building at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, this major retrospective includes a particular focus on the intriguing tale of E-1027 – a retreat on the Côte d’Azur designed by architect Eileen Gray. The cause of much conflict between Gray and her contemporary Le Corbusier (who decided to paint murals on the interior walls – much to Gray’s dismay), the exhibition features examples of furniture for the building plus the tubular steel designs which Gray is synonymous with.

Dana Schutz, The Hepworth Wakefield
New York-based painter Dana Schutz presents her first UK solo show at the Hepworth, Wakefield. Renowned for her vibrantly-coloured figurative paintings and tactile brushwork, Schutz creates imaginary worlds to explore hypothetical and absurd situations. Seen by some as one of the most significant young contemporary artists in America, this is an essential survey of her most recent work.

PC World, Motorcade/Flashparade, Bristol
As part of his prize for winning last year’s Motorcade/Flashparade National Open, artist David Theobald was offered a solo show at the space. The results are a series of computer animated and photographic works that attempt to capture the complex web of processes that make up contemporary society. Caught in a perpetual state of transit where increasing complexity is often presented as the illusion of ‘progress’, the works mirror the repetitive processes that seem central to the infrastructure of contemporary society.
