Doppelgänger
Brigitte Jurack guest curates and exhibits in the latest group show at Lewisham Arthouse. The exhibition poses philosophical questions about the self and the double by taking a closer look at doubling within the methodologies of artists such as Alan Dunn & Peter Suchin, Susie Green, Bernadette O’Toole and Flora Whiteley.

Doremifasolasido 2016
17 emerging artists from throughout the UK have been invited to spend a week-long residency making site-responsive work in a disused haematite mine in West Cumbria that is also the base of Florence Arts Centre. The resulting residency exhibition will include a day of public events on Saturday 20 August, where film, performance and spoken word will be presented.

Bodies of Water
Kayla Parker and Stuart Moore will be introducing an evening of artists’ film and moving image works that respond to and engage directly with the sea. The screening takes place as part of a summer-long programme of events led by Bridport’s new artist collective Force 8, which has been initiated by Anna Best and Hester Schofield.

Watch This Upstairs Space
A new gallery opens its doors in Leicester on Saturday 20 August with an inaugural exhibition featuring 14 artists, including Cody Choi, Gina Soden, Loz Atkinson and Robert Robinson. The space is above the independent fashion store, Watch This Space, which sells clothing and accessories by emerging designers.

Sugar and Spice
Plastic Propaganda’s latest exhibition explores the theme of trade, taking the exhibition’s dockland location as a contextual platform from which to consider the effects that international trade and exchange has had on Britain’s economy and culture.
