‘It was like drawing but with scissors...there was sensuality in the cutting’ (Matisse). Tania’s idiosyncratic work uses handcrafts to engage with contemporary issues often in subtly humorous ways. Alongside her particular interest in indigenous material culture Tania draws inspiration from those whose work embraces the sensual; (i.e. Josef & Anni Albers, Pae White, Sabine Finkenauer & Olafur Eliasson). Currently the artist is developing a community art project for local people in her town in an attempt to bridge the gap between ‘art-in-theory’ and ‘art-in-everyday life’.
