Why does a video need to move? Can what is expected to be kinetic satisfy when static? These are some of the new questions involved in stimulating C I R C U A R E m (and me). A series of twenty seven, fifty five second duration, static video components presented in reverse chronological order within an a-n blog. A blog used as-if a gallery.

The exhibition explores the conceptual qualities of paper: the way which it begins to articulate a complex set of ideas from repetition, materiality, consumption and production while maintaining its strong aesthetic and creative presence as an art object. Jeannie Driver makes work from A4 waste office paper. This ubiquitous material is a symbol of immaterial production and a signifier of the bureaucracy. Through re-processing the discarded material, Jeannie makes works that reference issues of consumption, flow and waste. www.jeanniedriver.com Christopher Lundie is researching the relationship between repetition and printmaking. His work challenges the processes involved in print production. The artist enjoys the repetitive nature of printmaking and exaggerates this at all stages of production: inconsistencies in the printing press, ink, paper, and matrix are highly controlled to produce small changes to each edition. Christopher is the SHP Resident Artist in Printmaking. http://christopherlundie.wordpress.com/ exhibition is curated by Dr Outi Remes. In our constant rush to achieve in our busy, bustling, noisy, gadget filled, materialistic 24/7 world there is enormous and restorative value through moments of quiet, in looking with awe into something that is beyond oneself.Lesley Melia's present work is on the theme of space with its silence, vastness and its breathtaking beauty but also with the wonder of the mystery of the unknown.

We present an installation of large-scale prints by Canadian artist Derek Besant. The work is themed around core redevelopment and upheaval within several large cities, and the temporary state of chaos that results in the streets. Based on reconstructed photographic images of building sites in Budapest, Vienna, London, Toronto, Mexico City, Calgary and Shanghai, the images of these cities’ infrastructures reveal them to be complex narratives embedded in space and time. Cities are continually excavating the past and dismantling the present.Besant looks upon these events as theatrical interventions or temporary acts in which people reorganize materials and space into and out of chaos. The images in the exhibition, created using industrial printing processes onto veil-like scrims, expose aspects of the city which, by their very ubiquity, usually go unnoticed. Occasionally these sites capture our attention, and we get a fleeting glimpse of the city’s underbelly. Alongside this is a screening of Jayne Wilson’s two short films from a series about the power of the past. All That Mighty Heart offers an observation on our contemporary malady of supposed urgency, using the imagery of clocks and timekeeping. Hey Presto! reflects upon engineering, technology, time and magic, agents of change in the modern world.
