Silversmith & Jeweller Medium ? oxidised fine silver Size ? approx. heights 120 ? 150mm Year – 2010 Maya makes use of the properties of silver to create forms that have spectral characteristics. Her technique is similar to drawing in the way she uses silver to frame empty space and suggest solid form. She exploits the descriptive nature of the black line in a similar way to the ?chiaroscuro? style of painting, where volume is suggested by the use of shadow and highlight.

This is the winning artwork in the Arisu Creative Arts ‘Chiaroscuro’ exhibition

This artwork Kishu Outline is also Winner of the Contemporary Design Award at Inhorgenta, Munich 2011
