State of Readiness is a collaborative visual arts event that brings together 11 artists from East Anglia, Canada and Finland, exhibiting work which responds to the exhibition location at Landguard Fort, now a public monument, formerly a military stronghold since the reign of Henry 8th and site of the last opposed sea-born invasion of England. The Fort’s active military history spans many eras – from Henry 8th to World War 2.The works explore historical and contemporary themes of readiness, preparation, anticipation and threat. Working with a wide range of materials and disciplines the 11 Fortified artists collective present a dynamic mix of work, including performance, sculpture, drawing and installation, some direct and profound, others ambiguous and playful.
