8th March to 4th April 2008‘A dot becomes a line, a line becomes a square’curated by Lloyd Gill Hazel Gelman + Cyrus Iravani + Chloe Le Tissier + Joey Holder + Liam O’ Connor + Randi Antonsen + Natasha Kahn The title of this group exhibition is ‘a dot becomes a line, a line becomes a square’ and the Lloyd Gill Gallery has gathered seven participating Artists. The title is a euphemism of the development process an Artist goes through in taking new directions and making developments in their work. The show consists of 6 painters showing preliminary drawings, washes and finalised work over a period of under 5 years and one Artist of cross – disciplinary methods of photographing various Architectural encounters and then mentally charges these creative renditions as drawings as the focal point. In the development process, the Artist may tap into a source of inspiration to conjure new work. Often travel can develop Artistic expression, this process is habitually recorded as photography or sketch work and later used for the manufacture of new work. Each Artist is showcasing works varying from 1999 to present year. Each Artist has there own particular concerns which rainbow from a connection to nostalgia through certain materialism to organic abstraction with a cosmic influence.
