A Little Patch of Ground is an intergenerational food growing and performance project led by Encounters. Since April a group of 20 local people age 5-82, living, working or going to school in the area have been meeting weekly at Toynbee Studios to grow a permaculture inspired vegetable garden, eat together and use drama, writing and photography to share stories and ideas about our relationship with where we live and the wider world. The threads of the project are woven together for this installation and a multi- media performance presented by the participants that tells an intimate and very human tale about what its like to live now at this time of ecological challenge and opportunity.A Little Patch of Ground is also taking place this year in Devon on the Dartington Hall Estate and the urban and rural groups will meet to share experiences.
