Åse Vikse

Åse Vikse (1981) is a multidisciplinary Printmaker. She holds a BA (Hons) in Communication Design (Illustration) from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen (2017-20) and an MA in Fine Art (Printmaking) (w/Distinction) from Middlesex University, London (2021-22). She lives and works in Whitley Bay/Newcastle. She has exhibited in London, Folkestone, Newcastle and Oslo i.a., and has been selected for Artist Residency in Ísafjörður, Iceland (2024). Vikse is currently Artist in Residence at York St John University during the academic year of 2023/24. She is a member of Northern Print, the Society of Norwegian Printmakers and the Society of Norwegian Visual Artists. Vikse's process-led practice is research-based and she works both with traditional techniques such as Woodcut, and contemporary, conceptual Monoprints.
