Chris Benton is a neuro-radiographer who has been creating mixed media artwork inspired by the anatomy and pathology he sees on medical images for the past four years. His medical artworks have been exhibited several times, most notably he was invited to take part in the British Institute of Radiology “the Art of Medicine” show in March 2009. His works have been featured on the covers of the UCLH staff magazine “Inside Story” and the Society of Radiographers publication “Synergy”. Chris specializes in using recovered and recycled materials, indeed several of his works are made entirely from ‘found objects’ (apart from the paint and glue). Chris has been performing radiography since 1979. From 2001 to 2007 he worked at the Institute of Neurology as a research radiographer investigating neurological conditions including Multiple sclerosis and brain tumours. He is now working at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London.
