Andi Chapple and Musicians Three Spring Performances #3: 'Suspense – Does Not Conclude -' St. Gregory’s is a retired (but not deconsecrated) church built in the second half of the 19th century for the men building the railway and their families. I have set some poems of Emily Dickinson, famous 19th-century American poet and recluse, to English hymn tunes of the era, using Dickinson’s eccentric punctuation to cue drones, transformations, instrumental solos, etc. The sound of traffic passing on the busy main road outside will be transformed into a literal wall of sound, making a sonic metaphor for Dickinson’s seclusion. An hour of music that is both earthy and ethereal. information, sounds and directions from www.music.freakout.biz The performance is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
