Presenting: DATAMOSH and Dave Pugh & Bryan Tweddle
DATAMOSH
This collaboration came about when artists Paul R Jones and Guy Mayman discovered a large archive of 35mm slides, audio cassettes and A4 booklets earmarked for destruction at the Art School where they were working. This material was no longer wanted because of a perception it was rendered obsolete by the digital hardware and wifi access ubiquitous in the 21st Century. Mayman and Jones are fascinated by the hallucinogenic potential of everyday experiences. Our talk would discuss the ongoing project DATAMOSH as site of excavation and construction, awakening the analogue spectre of the recent past. we will talk about how we re-animate obsolete technology and information, and how this morphs into a collage of psychedelic improvisation and performance.

Bryan Tweddle & Dave Pugh
Bryan is a sculptor, designing and making for Theatre, Opera, Ballet, Street Performance, Television, Film, Animation, Educational Projects, Exhibition and Carnival.
Dave Pugh is a digital artist and uses Photoshop, Illustrator and Blender to produce a wide range of graphic and fine art imagery.
Dave and Bryan have collaborated on a number of projects over the past 10 years.
About Art Lab
Art Lab is a monthly meet-up for artists and art practitioners to discuss their work, concurrent ideas and critical thinking. It’s open to anyone who would like to attend and contribute constructively. Art Lab is for sharing ideas, mutual learning, peer support and networking. The format is presentation(s) by artists / practitioners about their work / ideas / interests: 20-30 minute presentations followed by Q&A.
Art Lab welcomes all art practitioners at any stage in their career and operates a safe space policy. Art Lab is coordinated by Halifax based artist/curator/writer Alice Bradshaw.
