The talk is free but please RSVP to [email protected] as space is limited.Tony Maas will be presenting aspects of his research that was supported by an Artsadmin Digital Media Arts Bursary in 2006, an initiative that was funded by Arts Council England, London. His process explores the gradual loss of social cohesion within a community as a result of regeneration and what constitutes that sense of community and self: "…that which is perceived as broken is removed and replaced by a 'permanent now', an historical present set outside of time." Maas seeks to enjoy the mess and sheer awkwardness of human presence; curating lost, real environments, utilizing a virtual arena within a physical space and examining the paradox of the untidy state of things within a digital medium.
