Private View: Thursday October 9, 18:00 – 21:00. City Spaces: Urban Stories brings together leading photographers from around the world who have explored the notion of the global landscape. From the minutiae of everyday life through to vast industrial landscapes, each photograph documents the changing face of global living. This exhibition will explore the stories which take place in the shadow the world’s cities. The work charts the city in its many forms from Jan Deckner’s Singaporean skyscrapers, to the images of Osaka’s motorways in Lucille Nolan’s work, and to the ubiquity of the city in Darren Sylvester’s perfectly rendered office interiors. In contrast to their vast visions of global excess, Paul Philipson’s work documents the growing monolith of China, and presents an emotive yet almost uninhabited range of interiors and exteriors. Finally Paul Knight’s work looks at the nature of relationships between people. One of the most contained and heightened relationship structures in society is that of the couple where there is an underlying expectation for people to be as strong as the buildings that house them.
