The title ‘Come and See….’ creates an air of intrigue about the contents of the exhibition. TAG’s continued intention to embrace new and exciting developments in the field of textile art makes for an exciting mix of techniques and designs. Some of the pieces are based on nature. Denise Teed has the magnificent Himalayan poppy created from fibres, Helen Winthorpe Kendrick has an impression of the Spanish roofs in the Picos mountains in hand made felt, whilst Catherine Moore has a collection of devoré scarves whose design is inspired by plant life. The group project entitled ‘Flicks’ is based on film titles. The interpretation by each member of the group is quite different, with Joan Burnip having a washing line of underwear representing ‘Brief Encounter’ while Jackie Ford has worked a cartoon of teddy bears and dolls to depict ‘Toy Story’. Dramatic impact has been achieved by working all the pieces in black and white and displaying them as the separate frames of a roll of film.
