New paintings by Thomas Helyar-Cardwell, Duane Moyle and Ben Tate. This exhibition will bring together work that is hyperconscious of its fragile place within a constructed canon of art and cultural history. Work that seeks to engage the present, with more than a cursory glance at what has gone before. These artists are at once caught up in the dialogue of painting and yet deeply question its ultimate role, wondering if it is still possible to do anything new. Are today’s painters bound to continue reproducing work of the past, or are there new questions to be asked? In the process of contemplating these ideas, painting as a discipline is celebrated and enjoyed.Private View Thursday 3rd September 6-9pm.
