Winner of the Public Choice Award for the European Environment Agency’s ImaginAIR competition, in the ‘Air and cities’ category Stephen Connell’s photographs of Light Pollution reveal a nocturnal world of spectacular landscapes. Artificial man made buildings that appear grey and menacing by day, are transformed into ethereal and un-worldly wonderlands. One of fourteen photographers in Marburae Art Gallery’s contemporary photography exhibition, Focus, Stephen’s work sits alongside the deep and contrasted black and white photographs by the renowned landscape photographer, Dave Butcher. As well as fourteen highly established photographers, Focus, also draws attention to local fresh talent. Macclesfield College second year photography students are showcasing their latest work as part of Focus, gaining a rare opportunity to exhibit alongside recognised photographers from across the globe. Focus at Marburae Gallery on Athey Street, Macclesfield is hosting its largest exhibition yet with over 130 striking photographs. The Focus exhibition open evening will take place at 7.00pm – 9.30pm on 7th February 2013. The exhibition will run from 8th February until 9th March 2013.
