Hatch artists’ collective, based in a secret location in Langport, are getting ready to entertain, challenge and inspire with another exciting exhibition, this time exploring Death and Microwaves.

Artist, Georgina Towler, explains, “Hatch evolved during lockdown in collaboration well known Langport local, Ian, who has a huge disused battery egg barn. The enormity of the space meant we could put on a drive thru exhibition, which allowed us to show our work safely during the pandemic.”

Sculptor, Melanie Deegan, adds, “Hatch grew out of a dark place; a time when we all needed something to hope for…  what’s evolved is an amazing space, with exceptional people, sharing creative adventures.”

The Hatch collective has produced a whole host of exhibitions, events and escapades. Offering people the opportunity to experience art in a new way – with site specific installations, painting, sculpture, film, sound and kinetic works on a grand scale.

Explaining how the title ‘Death and Microwaves’ was chosen through an accidental conversation overlap during a Hatch meeting, artist and curator Elaoise Benson, says, “Death, is often avoided as a subject. We see this as an opportunity to explore its nuances. Similarly, microwaves are a natural force and have drawn suspicion, conspiracy theories and fascination. The Hatch artists are looking forward to starting new conversations about both.”

Hatch’s next exhibition ‘Death and Microwaves’ will be held at the secret barn in Langport over three long weekends, Friday to Sunday, from 27th October to 12th November. Entry is free, but donations to cover the cost of utilities and materials are encouraged.
