The Art of Barrie West and Angela Sandwith’Hearts and Minds’ explores the philosophical, moral and historical influences that shape our lives and make us what we are. The artists express their personal views on ‘life’ through a range of large scale two or three dimensional works that draw on natural ‘everyday’ objects as well as traditional art forms. Angela Sandwith’s works explore the tension between living in the past and the uncertainty of the future, using a variety of media and techniques including drawing, sculpture, traditional textile techniques and recycled materials. In his works, Barrie West attempts to understand the meaning of ‘being what you are’ using incidents from the ‘past’ to explain the ‘present’. To articulate these experiences Barrie uses painting, printing and working with found objects.
