Horizons is an exhibition of work by Jennifer Blant, Paul Bowring and Andy Cole exploring the illusory limits we choose to accept in our lives whether physical, intellectual or spiritual. Jennifer Blant’s work includes several semi-abstracted seascapes inspired by her 6 month residency on the Hebridean island of Colonsay as well as some of her more expressionistic works about the people and situations she meets in her life. Jennifer’s painterly work is richly coloured and textured, with a bold and assured mastery of her medium. Paul Bowring’s strong monochrome paintings are imbued with a sense of mystery, an aura of other-worldliness and the essence of Gothic Romanticism. There seems to be an underlying narrative in his images which is never fully revealed, with figures poised on the edge of something unknown and maybe terrifying. Paul takes inspiration for his work from music literature and film. Andy Cole’s exquisite pen and ink drawings are executed with immense intricacy and skill and often possess a subtle and dark sense of humour. Andy is inspired by Forteana, dark fantasy and generally “Out There” X-Files type experiences that life throws into the mix.Private view 30th June 7:30 – 9:30pm RSVP to [email protected]
