Curated by Clare Sheppeard I (must) confess, I am an artist. I discover and leave behind, thoughts and things. I cannot always control what is released, and sometimes look as a stranger at my own work. Ok, then this must be me. The artist-run space is unveilled; a moment in time and space to reconsider my practice without the baggage of instititons. The work did not exist before and will not exist again. The most valuable moments arise there. I am commited to, and but also dependant upon these spaces, which are my ‘pedestal habitats’. Of course my studio is important, but it is also sometimes a confusing place where different visions cross each other and entwine. Objects from ten years ago continue to scratch at me. So why do I keep those works when I do not actually like them? They must have some kind of value, but I still can’t tell what that is. Maybe I missed the meaning of those past objects and their moment is slowly fading from thought. My works play witness to those moments.
