ARTISTS MAKE CHANGE
We are working with a-n The Artist Information Company to deliver Artists Make Change – a 12 month participatory R&D project designed to explore the role of the artist in society, and in particular to assess, and advocate for, how artists and art organisers can effectively work for change.

We have commissioned a series of 5 case study presentations from which we’ll be holding 5 corresponding Group Discussions – The discussions will take place online, on Zoom.

DISCUSSION #4
Identifying needs in your community & making change
facilitated by Jhinuk Sarkar
June 16th 7pm – 8.30pm
Book Your Place HERE

Do you wonder how an art practice can effectively respond to your community’s needs? What do artists & arts workers do when working with and for their communities they are part of? How can artists and arts organisers make change through working in community settings? In this discussion, facilitated by illustrator and arts educator Jhinuk Sarkar, we will explore:

– whether effective change can be made through embedded community practice
– the contexts and situations for artists seeking to make change within their own communities
– strategies and solutions for artists and practices seeking change
– the challenges facing artists & arts organisers working in this way
– and more!

This discussion session runs in parallel to a presentation by Sofia Niazi – be sure to the watch the video before joining the discussion to get the most out of the experience. The presentation by Sofia can be accessed by clicking HERE
