Gallery SCA opens in St Alkmonds Square on Saturday 1st of November and intends to add to and compliment the existing high standard of Shrewsbury gallery’s, making the town a real hotspot to buy quality art. The inaugural exhibition will run from 1st November and alongside work by the Shropshire based artist Jon Thompson there will be work from some of the greats such as David Hockney, Chagall, Matisse, Sir Terry Frost and sculptural ceramists by Dennis Farrell. Gallery SCA provides a contemporary gallery space which aims to create an opportunity for emerging artists to showcase their work alongside established painters and ceramicists within Shrewsbury. The gallery is to be manned by Jon Thompson, and will include his studio space where clients can get to know his painting process. “A lot of my work is commission based and many clients are keen to see my studio and enjoy the interaction this can offer with the chance to get to know the artist.”
