My work is influenced by all that I find interesting which I have seen and experienced; features or things that have sifted into my memory throughout the years and find a path in the works. Ranging from formations of soil – landscape formations in South-East Iceland, gothic churches and the German middle ages / Renaissance painter Matthias Grünewald together with the perfection of classical tradition in art, interplay between colours and brightness, the tradition of photography and the music scale. Pieces of a post-modernistic puzzle which I try to put together. Where do these form come from and why? Is it possible at all to figure it out or does it even matter? In the beginning it was very important for me to understand my own art-making and in order to reach that goal I studied art history and related subjects for quite some time. Today I´ve come to learn that it´s a goal which cannot be reached as some kind of an endpoint, because an endpoint means a stop. Now I rather think about comprehending “what is now“, in order to move forward. The characteristics of the work´s imagery is to connect different poles in some sort of layers, to grasp something opaque/translucent/aerial, a fusion of ideas which has it´s boundaries og borders.
