Dartmoor Arts Project presents artist Laura Ford in conversation with art historian and author Leah Kharibian. Laura Ford, one of the foremost female sculptors currently working in the UK, came to prominence in the British Art Show 5 2000 organised by the Hayward Gallery. Her socially and politically charged figures exist between the realms of fantasy and reality, childhood and adulthood. Ford works with a variety of materials, often using what is to hand, from fabric and found objects, to more traditional materials such as bronze and plaster. Leah Kharibean is an independent writer and art historian and has published many books. Part of a week-long series of artists talks and lectures open to the public during Dartmoor Arts Project Summer School 24-30 July 2011. Booking advised but not essential, cost £5, call 01647 281295 to reserve a place or email [email protected]. Talk starts at 8pm.
