Life is a Wonderful Thing Pauline Scott’s current work is based on what, to her, are wonderful experiences that make up the rich pattern of life. The representations are frequently semi-abstract but all are based on the reality of some object or event that she has encountered in life. They are an expression of her feelings of wonder in life, mainly in paint but also in other media. What makes life joyful? Different things bring pleasure at different times. Sometimes it is excitement of movement as portrayed in ‘The Dance’. Sometimes it is the energy of water pounding over rocks. At other times it may be a sense of calm and serenity. Or it may perhaps be a sense of wonder in things as varied as the vast universe or as small as the structure of a single cell. The series of small paintings entitled ‘Life is a Wonderful Thing’ is intended to demonstrate a sense of wonder and is based on many different things Scott has encountered in life. Scott states that …“Although my work is based on my feelings and experiences, I want the viewers to be fired by their imagination and to see and feel whatever they find within it, hoping that it also gives them a sense of intrigue and of pleasure”
