Portuguese-born artist Miguel Santos will exhibit two different works Arctic Drawings and One for the Mind, Two for the Eye, Seven (plus or minus two) for the World. In Arctic Drawings a series of color photographs investigate the experience of whiteness, where snow takes the place of the white paper, the background. The uncovered traces of the landscape take the place of the marks made on paper and photography becomes a drawing. With One for the Mind, Two for the Eye, Seven (plus or minus two) for the World Santos presents 10 diptychs (comprising 20 framed photographs) with each diptych the result of one image, made with two landscape photographs manipulated to blend in each other, then cut to make two new images framed separately as a diptych.
