With Nature is a Cyborg Annie Trevorah presents a nature-led world in response to the human-centred narrative of the Anthropocene.
Inspired by Donna Haraway’s provocative ecofeminist essay ‘A Cyborg Manifesto’, Trevorah’s sculptures challenge prevailing concepts of identity, gender and technology by imagining an alternative existence that transcends conventional categories.
Trevorah’s hybrid characters employ more-than-human healing powers that range from photosynthesis to hermaphroditic reproduction as an ecomorphic response to a world in crisis. Merging organic and synthetic materials with scent, light and sound elements, Nature is a Cyborg invites viewers to reconsider their relationship with the natural world.
The exhibition opens with an introduction by curator, arts writer and art historian Josephine Bailey and a Q&A with the artist on 28 May.
