Established for over 16 years, Artist blacksmith Melissa Cole’s sculptures have an intimate and delicate nature belying the strength of their construction. Based on imagined expressions of emotion and subtle posturing within relationships, each unique to their moment of creation, the works are inspired by form found in human, animal and bird life. The medium of forged steel & wrought iron from which Melissa creates her sculpture is intrinsic to the work she makes. Commissions welcome and courses in basic forge work available each month.Employing a variety of photographic techniques, Mark Somerville focuses on the relationship between the natural landscape and the products of human endeavor, be they agricultural or ancient structures. Mark invites the viewer to re-appraise these familiar landmarks and share the magic of the surrounding countryside.Visitors to the galley will also be able to participate in a photographic project to be completed during the open studios month.
