Twenty five artists at the Chocolate FactoryN16 in Dalston will be opening their studios on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July 2008. Hidden at the end of a cobbled passage off Stoke Newington High Street, the studios have a long-established reputation for high quality ceramics and design. The expanded studios now include selected artists working in installation, performance, painting, photography, sculpture, graphics and fashion.Visitors often comment on the dynamic energy of the space, where artists work in studios built around an open courtyard, encouraging a high level of interaction. Emerging themes explored in their practice include: space, urban environment, sustainability, memory, journey, coincidence and transformation. Dealing with identity and place, the performance event will feature costume, sound and movement.
