Ryan Hughes Projects and Althorpe Studios and Gallery present the first one person show of works by recent Birmingham City University and Warwickshire College graduate, Jack Branscomb. The show which is titled ‘Other Places’ will only be on between 7:00 and 9:00pm on Friday the 20th of July, this short time span reflects the curator, Ryan Hughes’ interest in temporality and preformative situations. Jack is a sculptor in the loosest sense, although he describes himself as being a ‘maker’ instead of adopting any more historically loaded title, and he is interested in ideas around minimalism, location, modernity and the human senses. Branscomb says;“I sometimes further this by introducing contradictory elements such as animation created by air as well as fragrances. ”But these materials are by no means the limit of his palette; he works with a huge range of materials in a very confident fashion and in ways which the audience may not expect.Althorpe Studios and Gallery, a charity located on Althorpe Street in Leamington Spa, is dedicated to providing space for both the production and presentation of art in a variety of forms and this one person show is the third event; after Identity Politics and the two weeks of Warwickshire Open Studio, which cements this commitment.Refreshments will be available for a small donation.
