OTHERNESS: PLAYING WITH GENDER REPRESENTATION. The psycho-analytical concept of Otherness has been appropriated by contemporary photography theorists to explain, in part, individual identity as defined by difference. This comparative “Other” is exemplified by the feminine compared to ideals of masculinity, social constructs that arguably deny the fluidity of gender. This one-man exhibition showcases Rae’s national Photographic projects relating to gender and sexuality. Master’s of the Arts projects from 2011 and 2012 are featured along with a brand new works from this fresh and challenging emerging photographic artist.
