Utopia is each persons vision of perfection, with each individual holding personal values. When every man and woman’s ‘happy world’ consists of thoroughly different ideals, utopias can only be sites with no real space. They are unreal, dream-like worlds. To make a utopia would mean creating an imaginary fantasy into reality. This suggests that a utopia is meant to stay as an imaginary space. And yet they are necessary as an ideal for society to strive towards, to hope towards. Hoping you will on day achieve a utopia. They present society in a perfected form, or else turned upside down, full of little ideals that we can enact in reality. Our aim in the exhibition is to engage with artists and audience through their perceived utopia. Through presenting each artists unachievable ideas of a utopian spaces we hope to encourage the audience to question how these ideals become functions within society. The Exhibition will feature the work of:Tom CretneyJohn TimberlakeKatalin HauselJoseph StevensCassandra WilkinsonTownley and BradbyDale Fearnley
