For our August event, Blue Monkey Network takes advantage of our special relationship with Towner for an exclusive out of hours viewing of works in Towner’s current exhibitions. We’ll take the opportunity to talk about some of the works in Some Are Nights Others Stars and then move on to the East Sussex Open, with opportunities for plenty of chat about selected works and themes arising from them from an artist’s perspective.

In a special presentation for Blue Monkey Network, artist Clare Whistler is developing a live response to Siobhan Hapaska’s site specific piece, Intifada (shaking off) in Some Are Nights Others Stars. Clare will present her new piece exclusively for us during our event on the 25th. http://clarewhistler.co.uk

If there is any particular piece of work that you’d like to talk about, please do come along and join the conversation or let us know in advance so that we can make sure we look at it on the night (e-mail [email protected]).

One of the highlights of Some Are Nights Others Stars is Isaac Julien’s beautiful and haunting film, Ten Thousand Waves. At 45 minutes long, we won’t be able to watch this piece as a group, but Towner will be allowing access for members to view the film between 5pm and 6pm immediately before our event on 25th August.

We hope you can join us for what is sure to be an interesting and stimulating evening.
