The Brewers Towner International is an exhibition of contemporary visual arts, featuring sculpture, paintings, moving image, photography and prints by a range of artists, local, national and international. Selected through an open call earlier this year, the artists have come together to share work that addresses the theme of SANCTUARY.

We will have the opportunity to access the exhibition out of hours, joined by Towner Curator Noelle Collins along with a couple of participating artists, Sharon Haward and Benjamin Phillips.

Sharon Haward is a Blue Monkey Network member whose practice is essentially a sculptural one that is informed by architecture and its impact on the human form. She moves between making small scale objects and larger scale interventions that create direct physical relationships with the viewer and the surrounding environment. @sharonhaward

Benjamin Phillips is an illustrator, artist and author based in Hastings, UK. From his studio he creates ceramics, drawings and paintings for a wide range of commercial and personal projects. Twice a month, Benjamin runs workshops for two artists with disabilities where they create collaborative artworks together, and since 2021 he has been working collaboratively with Amy Fenton.

We will hear more about the awarded works and their work process from the artists at the event. We will also have the chance to ask the curator Noelle Collins about her role and experience in the process.

We will meet on the ground floor at Towner from 6.00 pm with the out of hours access to the gallery and talk from 6.30 pm.

This Event is free for BMN members: £5 Non-Members

Blue Monkey Network is run by artists for artists, in partnership with Towner Eastbourne, and is entirely funded by membership subscriptions and donations.
