Ania Dabrowska's photography synthesizes Pia's physical existence within the cosmos both physically and metaphorically: Pia is a transsexual whose body and life have undergone transformations based on deep rooted considerations of philosophy and mythologies. Pia is a high voltage force: She is a drummer in a punk band, a performer, a theatre set builder, and a dancer; she lives in an old-school warehouse studio in Hackney Wick. In this work the attention is focused on a tale of subjectivity, the deconstruction of one's identity in contexts of astrology, philosophy, and body politics.
